One-Click Site Duplication for New Languages

The scenario

You’re launching a new language on a site with a thousand pages. Doing it one post at a time — even with AI translation — is tedious: open post, click AI Translate, save, next post. Multiply that by a thousand and you’ve lost a week of somebody’s life.

Lang Forge’s site duplication feature handles the whole thing in one flow.

How it works

Step 1: Pick the target language

From Lang Forge → Tools → Duplicate Site, choose the language you want to duplicate to. If the language isn’t configured yet, add it on the same screen.

Step 2: Choose what to duplicate

By default, all published content across all post types is selected. You can narrow this to:

• Specific post types (posts only, pages only, products only, etc.)
• Specific status (only published, include drafts, include private)
• A date range (only posts from the last 12 months)
• Specific categories, tags, or taxonomies

Step 3: Decide whether to AI-translate during duplication

You have two options:

• Duplicate as drafts only. Every post is copied into the target language as an untranslated draft. Your team fills in the translations manually later.
• Duplicate + AI translate. Every post is copied AND sent through AI translation in the background.

If you choose AI translation, Lang Forge shows a cost estimate in credits before you confirm. You see exactly how many credits the job will consume based on the actual content length.

Step 4: Confirm and walk away

For small jobs (under 20 posts), duplication is synchronous — you see a progress indicator and results appear immediately. For larger jobs, Lang Forge queues the work into its background processor and runs it via WP Cron.

You can close your browser. You can come back in an hour. Progress is visible on the same screen.

• Post title, content, excerpt
• All ACF Pro fields (including nested repeaters and flexible content)
• All Field Forge fields
• Featured image and gallery attachments (as references, not copies)
• SEO meta (Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress, TSF)
• Taxonomies (categories, tags, custom taxonomies)
• Post type meta and custom meta fields
• Menu position and order
• Parent/child relationships for hierarchical post types

Duplication is reversible

If something goes wrong — the AI produced bad results, you picked the wrong post type, you changed your mind — you can roll back an entire duplication job from the same screen. The rollback removes every translated post created by that specific job, without touching anything else.
